Sekurus International, a leading asset management and tracking solutions provider of AVL solutions, announced the release of two new items; a temperature alert sensor and thermometer sensor that will address the needs of fleet management companies whose main business lies in the transporting of refrigerated items.
The temperature alert sensor and thermometer sensor can be individually integrated as a part of the fully integrated SekurTrack Fleet unit that enables fleet managers to be consistently updated as to the temperature of their cooled items and to take the appropriate corrective adjustments if necessary.
By addressing the needs of the multi-million dollar industry for shipping refrigerated foodstuffs and other sensitive comestibles that require temperature regulation, this latest feature allows the monitoring of cooling compartments by directly connecting the sensors to the SekurTrack Fleet device. Fleet managers have the option to receive the current thermometer reading of their items on every location update or on a user initiated request, alerting them on any breached thresholds and any other application layer activities.
The thermometer sensor measures temperatures in the range of -50°C to +75°C. It consumes a low level of energy and, aside from the connection to the SekurTrack Fleet, no further calibration is required. The temperature alert sensor will send an alert when the temperature drops below the pre-set temperature of the thermometer reading regardless of the predefined communication intervals. Fleet managers have the option to simply use the thermometer sensor as a temperature reporting mechanism or use the temperature alert sensor to alert the manager when the temperature drops below a pre-defined level. Both may be used together or as individual components.
Use of M2M location and tracking applications in industrial telematics is steadily rising. According to a new study, "Fleet Management and Wireless M2M 2008," that covers the latest trends in the fleet management industry, the use of tracking technology in industrial environments such as telematics and asset tracking will continue to grow, from 1.1 million units at the end of 2008 to 3.3 million units by the end of 2013.
Basel Al Salah, Founder and CEO of Sekurus International, said:"In order to address the needs of fleet managers in the refrigerated tracking industry, especially when goods are being transported over long distances, it is vital that they have the technology to monitor the necessary heat environment for their items. Our new temperature management solution will keep them always updated as to the temperature of their goods in order to maintain maximum refrigeration efficiency."
Al Salah concluded, "The SekurTrack Fleet is an innovative integrated fleet management unit with superior location, tracking, event driven reporting, logging, and security capabilities. This new temperature management feature adds a new dimension to our already increasing Fleet management client base."
